When graphic designer, Bart Crosby, longed for a serene fishing escape exterior of the town on a secluded lake in Northern Wisconsin, Wheeler Kearns Architects delivered simply that. The Clearwater Lake Retreat marries a single-story modernist construction with its rustic surroundings in a flat clearing surrounded by 2.5 acres of woods.
The pavilion-style home is oriented on the land to maximise views out of its two sides made from black-framed home windows. The ground-to-ceiling glass partitions are flanked by two heavy stone partitions that anchor the oblong construction.
