CHICAGO — The Bud Billiken Parade returned to Chicago’s South Facet Saturday — signaling the beginning of the back-to-school season.
This was the primary time because the pandemic that the nation’s largest Black parade ran the complete two-mile route down King Drive.
That is the 93rd 12 months for the occasion, which celebrates the top of summer season and the start of the brand new college 12 months.
The custom was began by the Chicago Defender, whose purpose was to set children up for a profitable 12 months within the classroom.
College provides and different freebies had been handed out on the occasion.
