Slain 18-year-old remembered at balloon launch

CHICAGO — The household of Khalil White-EL held a balloon launch at Saint Sabina Church on West 78th Place Friday night.

White-EL — a member of Saint Sabina’s Sturdy Futures program — was shot and killed in an alley behind a McDonald’s close to 87th Road and Wabash Avenue.

White-EL was scheduled to start a brand new job at a automobile wash subsequent week, and the Rev. Michael Pfleger stated White-EL’s dying is a reminder of the work nonetheless left to do.

“It’s simple to surrender,” Pfleger stated. “However there’s all the opposite Kahlils on the market we’ve acquired to avoid wasting.”

Police have but to make an arrest in White-EL’s case.

After the balloon launch, contributors took half in a peace stroll.
